The Schools Competitions encourage schools and students to gain involvement and knowledge in all aspects of horticulture, sustainability and agriculture, as well as encourage their interest through researching and learning about these fields.
We would like to create an interest in the next generation about agriculture and the significant role it plays in the world.
There are currently 6 competitions to get involved in:
- Cat Art
- Garden Produce
- Poultry Art
- Creative Crafts
- Sustainable Scarecrow
Each competition will be judged, and certificates and rosettes will be awarded to First, Second and Third places. Up to two Highly Commended awards may also be awarded.
Points will be awarded to the School for each winning exhibit in the Schools Competitions: three (3) points for First place, two (2) points for Second place and one (1) point for Third place. These points will be totalled, and the highest scoring school will be awarded the Perth Royal Show Schools Competitions Perpetual Trophy, which they can display on the School grounds for three (3) school terms. A replica will also be awarded for the school to keep.
In the event of a tie, the School gaining the highest number of First places will be judged the winner. Should a tie still exist, the School gaining the highest number of Second places will be judged the winner. If a tie still exists an equal award may be made.
Judging will take place prior to the Show and the exhibits will be displayed for the duration of the Show and have the potential to be viewed by 350,000 Show patrons.
