UPDATE – Tuesday 14 July 2020
With the impact of COVID-19 and just over two months until gates open, this year’s Show will be quite unlike any other.
While under normal circumstances, we would be looking forward to presenting a full programme of competitions and exhibits, the realities of organising the event in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic has meant a full review of each Perth Royal Show competition. This was completed in consultation with the Councillor-in-Charge and relevant Committee. It was of the utmost importance to ensure we could deliver and maintain the integrity of the competitions in the short time frame involved. With a number of competing factors, including resources and involvement from our Eastern State counterparts it has meant some competitions will not feature at the Perth Royal Show in 2020.
After careful consideration, the Royal Agricultural Society of WA regrets to inform you that this competition will not take place this year.
While we know this will come as a disappointment, we hope you will understand the very real reasons for this decision and that you will be able to support this year’s Show in other ways.
We look forward to welcoming all our competitors back to Claremont Showground in 2021.
The Competition is conducted in two parts:
Part One: The Farm Skills Competition is where teams enter from college/school and points are awarded for placings in each of the twelve events.
The aim of the Sustainable Scarecrow Competition is to involve children in aspects of sustainability and to encourage their interest in the concept of growing their own edible plants and keeping those plants safe from predatory birds.
We would like to create an interest in the next generation about where their food comes from and how to keep it safe while growing.
