Artist’s Statement:
Upon another land, up-close details of an exploited land. With golden lines reminiscent of Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with golden joins – something which was broken takes on a new beauty, the repaired cracks themselves becoming the focus.
A reverence and grieving for nature at these times where exploitation of natural resources and related environmental stresses are major drivers of conflict and violence.
Applying the Kintsugi lens, nothing is beyond repair – acknowledging the breakage caused to our life; supporting systems by the way we live, and backing the ecosystem to spread its wings once more.
