Artist’s Statement:
Residing in the small, forested town of Dwellingup WA, on Pindjarup/Wilman Country, my primary source of income is to collect native seed for revegetation. I spend 28 hours plus a week in the northern Jarrah forests, staring at an incredibly vulnerable landscape, searching for seed. All the while mining companies are removing exactly what I am in search of, and it baffles me.
I wonder off in thought, pondering the impending doom of our forested ecosystems, and I see a golden face appear in the leaves. The man who sold the last tree in trade for skin of gold represents this ordeal and speaks directly of this artist’s concern for the Western Australian landscape.
