See the beauty and versatility of alpacas on display at the Perth Royal Show.

From halter judging to fleece competitions, breeders showcase their finest animals while youth competitors demonstrate their handling and judging skills. It’s an engaging look at the growth of WA’s alpaca industry and the world-class fibre it produces.

What You’ll See:
The competition runs across three action-packed days in the Jim Horwood Pavilion.

• Saturday, 27 September 2025 – Fleece judging (Huacaya and Suri)
• Sunday, 28 September 2025 – Halter judging, with Supreme Champions awarded in both breeds
• Monday, 29 September 2025 – Junior Judging (15–25 years) and Handlers’ Competitions (6–25 years)

The Pavilion will be open from 10.00am to 6.00pm while alpacas are on display, giving visitors the chance to see them up close and learn more about this thriving industry.

Please note: Alpacas will only be on display until Monday 29 September 2025.

The Alpaca & Alpaca Fleece Competition is open to all registered alpaca breeders and fleece exhibitors. With classes for Huacaya and Suri alpacas, junior handlers, young judges, and fleece sections judged on commercial value, there’s a place for every breeder to showcase their animals and fibre.

Special Awards:

• Governor’s Cup – recognising excellence and consistency across exhibits
  Carmen Graham Memorial Trophy – Most Successful New Exhibitor
• Ron Reid Perpetual Trophy – Best of Breed, celebrating outstanding Supreme Champions
• Supreme Champion Suri and Huacaya Fleece Awards, including the Peter Richards Memorial Trophy for Most Valuable Huacaya Fleece

• Entries close:
  • Fleece – 5.00pm, Sunday 3 August 2025
  • Halter & Youth – 5.00pm, Sunday 24 August 2025
• Delivery of exhibits: Friday 26 September 2025 (12.00pm – 6.00pm)
• Departure of exhibits: Monday 29 September 2025 (3.00pm – 7.00pm)
