The WA Women’s Hall of Fame was launched in 2011 to celebrate the Centenary of International Women’s Day, acknowledging inspiring Western Australian women who have helped build this great State. Every year since new inductees have been added from diverse backgrounds and sectors; in rural, regional and metro WA.

All are women who have not sought applause or accolades, but who have gone about their daily lives improving life for others, sharing knowledge, giving support, thriving in business and on the land. They stand as role models for future generations, fostering respect for women, and progressing gender equity. In 2012 a category was created for the women who are no longer with us but have made a significant contribution to fellow Western Australians, the Roll of Honour.

The Women’s Roll of Honour Perth Royal Show Exhibition, proudly supported by the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia, includes some truly inspiring rural and regional Western Australian women dating back to 1831, when Helen McGregor Scott arrived and moved to Bunbury where she dedicated herself to caring for the sick. Jane ‘Granny’ Adams, who settled in Mangownie 280kms from Perth was a mentor supporting struggling farmers and prospectors, and is also an Agricultural Hall of Fame inductee. Pru Arber was a solo and nomadic shepherdess who tended sheep for her whole life until 1932, in the Plantagenet Shire. All have a journey, and a story to tell.

We hope you enjoy exploring the legacy of these, and other inspiring Western Australian women through this photographic exhibition.
