THE SEARCH FOR AUSTRALIA’S BEST ALL-ROUND TRADIE VIE FOR TOP PRIZE AT THE PERTH ROYAL SHOW
Tradies from all over Perth will grab their tools and prove to their mates they have what it takes to take out the title of ‘Western Australian State Champion’ of the 2008 KingGee Jack of All Trades competition, and, score a spot in the National final and television series. Get down to the main arena on Saturday 4th October and support the Western Australian tradies in this sports style tradie competition.
They will battle it out to find the state’s best man or woman on the tools. They will race each other again the clock to determine who has the best all-round tradie skills and physical ability on the tools, with workmanship, safety and organizational efficiency a top priority.
This year, new challenges have been introduced that will push all competitors to their limit, tension and drama will build as the rivalry takes over and the inevitable competitive nature of Aussie blokes comes to the forefront.
The challenges this year will be: Grinding Challenge, Build and Design a Letterbox, Painting Challenge, Block Carving Challenge and Nailing Challenge. In addition to this, there are KingGee bonus challenges such as the Super-Tradie Change Room Challenge and Build the Super Box.
State qualifying events are held from April through to October and all around Australia, the five winners of each state event, plus one carefully selected “Wildcard” entrant will then proceed to battle it out in a head-to-head contest format at the Grand Final event in Sydney.
All the hot Tradie action will then be turned into a thrilling 8-part TV series which will air on Channel Nine later this year.
COMPETITION BACKGROUND
After completing the online application, competitors will be short-listed with 6 from each state being chosen to compete in the state qualifying events around Australia.
At the qualifying state rounds, tradies will be set different trade challenges which will test their abilities in design, carpentry, painting, showmanship, sculpting, grinding, tiling and demolition.
They will be judged on the quality of their work, the time taken to complete each task, the adherence to safety requirements, their organisational skills, plus the creativity and innovation demonstrated in the construction.
The Final will then see the five state winners plus One Wild Card battle it out for the KingGee Jack of all Trades crown.
