ACAS Coca-Cola Scholarship Winners

Three UWA students will find the financial aspect of university life slightly easier following monetary awards presented to them by The Royal Agricultural Society of WA.

Annually The RAS assists young people studying agricultural subjects by contributing to their tertiary costs through the Australian Council of Agricultural Societies 2011 Coca-Cola Regional Scholarships program. Each of this year’s winners receives $2,000.

The recipients are Claremont’s Joanne Lang, Kensington’s Charissa Wright and Georgia Pugh of Crawley.

Joanna Lang, 22, is in her fifth year at UWA studying agricultural science and commerce. She will buy text books and a laptop. Joanna intends to specialise in agricultural business.

Charissa Wright, 19, in her second year is studying natural resources management. Money from the scholarship will be used for a variety of study essentials.

Georgia Pugh, 20, also a second year student, is studying agricultural science and commerce at UWA. Georgia, who intends to buy text books for her studies, plans to specialise in agricultural science and accounting.

CEO of The RAS, Martin Molony says one of the core aims of the society is education and these scholarships are an important part of fostering a passion for agriculture. Mr Molony believes that by encouraging the next generation’s ambitions and visions for agriculture, the industry will remain in capable hands.
