David Squire and The RAS of WA Vice President Hugh Harding
2009 Volunteer of the Show David Squire has been involved in the equestrian events at the Perth Royal for 36 years. He is also a member of the Show Jumping committee.
“Over the years I have made an awful lot of friends. The team I work with at the show jumping events has been together for years. We see each other once a year at the Show.”
Being a volunteer at the Perth Royal Show is a demanding role. David works six days from 7am in the morning until early evening.
He has been involved with horses all his life: “My wife and I and our family have exhibited all these years.”
One of David’s sons competes and two of his grandchildren entered the Show for the first time this year.
David is a former President of the Mt Barker Agricultural Society and although he is supposed to be retired he still “helps out” on the family’s mixed use farm.
