RAS People
The Royal Agricultural Society WA has over 2,500 members who elect 28 councillors to sit on the Council, seven of whom are required to retire each year.
Councillors give their time voluntarily and are responsible for the conduct and management of the RAS. The Councillors' key role is to provide year round and Show time chairmanship of the Royal Show Sections that make up the Royal Show.
The RAS President, Vice President, Treasurer, Finance and Grounds Committee and Executive Committee are elected by the Councillors.
Council also appoints the Director or Chief Executive of the RAS who is a full time paid employee responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation.
The RAS employs 41 full-time staff who support the Chief Executive. Approximately half of these staff are ground crew, the other half are office personnel.
In addition to the RAS Councillors, management and staff, thousands of volunteers provide their time, skills and knowledge to make the Perth Royal Show the wonderful community event that it is.
