2008 Rural Ambassador
Londa Finlayson of Wagin is the 2008 Rural Ambassador. The 21 year old banking customer service representative was one of five finalists in the competition which is coordinated by The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia to acknowledge the leadership and community service of regional young people. Londa is passionate about her local community and is active in sports and Rotary. A high achiever, she is a recipient of a Rotary Youth Leadership Award and an Alcoa Sports Scholarship. As a former member of the Wagin Youth Advisory Council and Junior Coordinator of the Wagin Netball Club, Londa is well placed to engage regional youth. “Keeping young people in our towns and keeping them interested is our biggest challenge,” says the articulate mother of one. “We have to show young people what our communities have to offer and help them see that rural life is as great as city life and more rewarding,” she said.
