Sheep Shearing & Wool Handling
shedule entry form

The Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling competitions are staged in the Jim Horwood Pavilion during the Perth Royal Show. Both competitions happen in the northern part of the pavilion and spectator seating is available to accommodate the large crowds that are drawn to watch.
Also located in the Jim Horwood Pavilion is the Sheep Show. Combined with the shearing activities, this ensures the pavilion is always busy with thousands of agriculturalists, industry representatives and curious show goers.
The Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling competitions traditionally attract a high standard of entrants and 2007 was no exception.
In 2004, the International Shearing Event replaced the Trans-Tasman competition. This competition attracted shearers from all over the State and from as far as the United Kingdom and Scotland. The competition drew vast crowds, especially the event between Scotland and WA, which saw the Australians winning by a close margin.
The high calibre of shearers provides a strong and fierce competition during the Show which attracts extensive publicity. The Sheep Shearing Competition happens on the first day of the show, which this year features the best of the west shearing for the title and the winners shearing off against two of New Zealand’s best.
All Show week there are sheep shearing demonstrations in the Sheep Pavilion (A8).
